After the devastating floods of Kerala, a new technology called Impact Based Forecasting Approach has been developed to assess the increase in water level of rivers and reservoirs due to rain by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). , Which can help State Governments to monitor the impact of rainfall.

  • This technique, called Impact Based Forecasting Approach, shows "pre-event scenario".
  • This technique can help the authorities in making real-time decisions.
  • This technique is helpful in deciding when water can be released from reservoirs or rivers and when not.

About the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)

  • Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) is the most prominent agency in charge of meteorological observation, weather forecast and earthquake science under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.
  • IMD is one of six regional specific weather science centers of the World Meteorological Organization.
  • In 1864, due to the cyclone due to the damage caused in Calcutta and after the famine of 1866 and 1871, it was decided to organize under a framework of weather analysis and data collection work.
  • As a result, the Indian Meteorological Department was established in the year 1875.
  • The headquarters of the Indian Meteorological Department is in New Delhi.

Equality of rights

  • More than 150 pages can not be placed in a book due to the limitations of the braille script. Therefore, it has been decided to publish the translated constitution in five volumes and its first section will be published on November 25.
  • The second part of this Constitution series will be published two months later.
  • In addition to the publication of the Constitution, many other booklets in Braille will also be published which will be helpful for UPSC candidates and lawyers coming from the visually impaired community.


Result of cooperation

  • Without the cooperation of various organizations, the publication of the constitution was not possible in Braille.
  • This constitution, published in the Braille script, through mutual co-ordination and collaboration among organizations, will help visually impaired people to know their rights.
